Tony Soulié (1955-) is a recognized artist of the new French abstraction. A traveler, painter, poet and photographer, he seeks to “be in tune with the time and space that are ours”. Tony Soulié travels the world and makes it his own. “In my work, there’s urgency”. He mixes life with painting.
His travels take him to extreme lands: deserts, volcanoes, seashores, but also megalopolises, where he encounters “the world’s limit status”. He photographs, paints and sows ephemeral installations, underlining our fragility in front of the force and permanence of the elements. His mixed-media works are now based on photographs on which his brush draws the markers of his wanderings.
